CBC Radio Canada: Food for the Imagination

CBCRadio1940Franchising tends to dumb down a person’s imaginative abilities.

First you must be able to imagine a solution to your issues before you can act to improve them.

Franchisees voluntarily give up many, many more rights than then are ever taken from them by force.

My brother-in-law suggested I start listening to CBC Radio about 20 years ago. John’s a smart guy so I did what he said.

Because I simply listened, I was introduced to ideas that I never would have possibly come across.

One such author is Northrop Frye. I just finished his 1971 book The Bush Garden: Essays on the Canadian Imagination. I knew of Frye but couldn’t connect his ideas with my life for over 20 years.

  • Listening works on your mind in a way that seeing cannot.

You should listen to CBC Radio as much as you can. Get in the habit and I’ll bet, you’ll be glad you did.
