Franchising is in the entrepreneur illusion business

Magical thinking.

Chris Hedges gets it right.

@ 5:35: clinging to fantasy; to magical thinking.

In essence, what we’re trying to do is to borrow our way back to a bubble economy of 2006.

And the danger with that, and this is just across popular culture, is that we think if we just dig deeper within ourselves, If we just find the inner strength and fortitude, If you grasp that you are truly exceptional…

…you can have everything you want.

One Response to Franchising is in the entrepreneur illusion business

  1. Carol Cross says:

Empire of Illusion — Such bad news for all of us. How depressing! Chris Hedges, himself, knows that the truth of his observations about the inevitable fall of America, and capitalism, as we know it, will not even be questioned or doubted but that it will be “business as usual” in spite of his warning in this book! American Blue Collar Workers and Middle Class workers will not read this book.

Would that he would have devoted a chapter of his book to The Great Franchising Robbery and exposed one of the great “confidence games” of modern capitalism.

Would that he would expose the “malice” or the “incompetence” of a Congress that would permit invasion of 40l’s and 403’s and use of home equity to borrow to buy business format franchises that fail at a rate of 50% at sometime within the first five years! Would that he would expose the policy makers who make policy with questionable statistics or no statistics to provide short term solutions to support the top of the financial pyramids! Would that he would expose the “business courts” who protect those who steal the life savings of innocents because they CAN under dishonest regulation that is upheld by the courts!
