Social media breaks predatory franchising model

It also breaks the franchise bar’s monopoly. There is no place in pride for a courtroom.

Jerome Facher: [to law students] Now the single greatest liability a lawyer can have is pride.

Pride… Pride has lost more cases than lousy evidence, idiot witnesses and a hanging judge all put together.

There is absolutely no place in a courtroom for pride.

Justice? At the bottom of a bottomless well

March 29, 2008

If you have never been involved with a lawsuit, but think you want to be:

  1. watch this 3:47 long, 1998 movie clip to A Civil Action, then
  2. buy the movie and watch it 3 times, and then.
  3. buy the book and read it very carefully.

I have been sued twice in my life because I talked about my franchise experiences. But libel chill is nothing new in franchising. It’s just a cost of doing keeping the ovens firing.

You will achieve as much justice as you can buy in relation to your opponent. My first franchise defense lawyer said it was the most accurate portrayal of a modern lawsuit that he had ever seen.

I don’t seem to recall any attorney falling asleep during trial, though.
